No monkey business
Gorillaz are back with Plastic Beach, and Rushes has completed grading and conform for the music video ‘Stylo’, the albums’ debut single.
Rushes’ colourist Adrian Seery graded the last Gorillaz video five years ago, and pronounced the new one as ‘brilliant’.
“This time it’s a combination of live action and 3D,” he said. “The video is a car chase featuring various Gorillaz members [2D, Murdoc, a new Cyborg version of Noodle] and Bruce Willis. The live action was shot in the desert in California on a RED camera and graded at Rushes on Resolve in December ’09.”
“Eight weeks of animation ensued, by the excellent Passion Pictures,” continued Seery. “Rushes received the final combined pictures for a wash and a brush-up, giving it a bit more of a look to finish off and to bed in the characters a bit more. The end of the video would appear to end in disaster, but one is left with a distinct ‘to be continued’ feeling.”
Available in standard and deluxe versions on iTunes, the deluxe version of the album comes with exclusive footage of the making of the “Stylo” music video.
