Chermayeff & Geismar, the branding and design company, has a new book, Identify, out today. Since 1958, the firm has pioneered the modern movement of idea-driven graphic design across every discipline, specializing in brand identities, exhibitions, print and motion graphics, and art in architecture.

The New York-based company has been responsible for such logos as Pan Am, NBC, Chase, Mobil, PBS, National Geographic and the Museum of Modern Art.

Identify sets out the principles of identity design as seen by the partners, Ivan Chermayeff, Tom Geismar and Sagi Haviv, articulated in interviews in the book and demonstrated through case studies of over 40 of the firm’s most famous logos from 1957 to today.
