Bringing together some of the world’s top digital visual effects producers, animators and technical specialists, The Autodesk Digital Entertainment Conference taking place tomorrow, 12 October, will be a valuable opportunity for digital artists to learn from the experts how to address current industry challenges.  The information-packed, virtual event will demonstrate how Autodesk’s next-generation Digital Entertainment Creation software can help increase productivity while also providing the potential for ever greater creativity.

Industry guest speakers will include:

Mark Breakspear, CIS Vancouver – visual effects supervisor on Salt, Angelina Jolie’s latest hit, as well as  Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code.

Mike Mennillo, Ubisoft – lead fight animator on Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, he has also worked on games titles such as Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Lost: The Video Game.

Melinka Thompson-Godoy, Look Effects Inc – visual effects producer on feature films including Black Swan, Legion, The Spirit and Speed Racer and TV shows such as Pushing Daisies, 24 and the final season of Lost.

Michael ‘Mike D’ Degtjarewsky, Look Effects Inc –  digital effects supervisor on Legion and the final season of Lost, he has also worked as a compositor on all three Pirates of the Caribbean and The Green Mile.

Autodesk technical experts will give demonstrations of the new 3D editorial capabilities, improved character animation and the new user interface of Autodesk Maya 2011 plus the enhanced viewport interaction and creative power of the Graphite modelling tools and Slate materials editor in Autodesk 3ds Max 2011.  There will also be an “exhibit hall” where artists can chat with product experts and download trials.
