Mill TV to create VFX drama for Corrie anniversary-updated

Mill TV created dramatic visual effects for Coronation Street’s special 50th year anniversary episode which saw tragedy strike Britain’s most famous street.

The BAFTA-award winning Mill TV team produced several VFX shots for the episode of the venerable UK soap, which saw  the viaduct at the end of the street collapse, sending a tram careering off the bridge and onto the cobbles below. The disaster means that life for the residents of Weatherfield will never be the same again as much loved characters were killed and injured. The stunt also marks the biggest in the show’s history.

“Coronation Street is one of the nation’s biggest and much loved shows,” said Will Cohen, Executive VFX Producer, Mill TV. “So we are honoured to be working alongside executive producer Phil Collinson, with whom we collaborated on Doctor Who, and the team from ITV Granada to help support the dramatic storyline in what promises to be one of the show’s most memorable ever episodes.”

If you want to find out more about how it all came to life, check out this special behind-the-scenes video on ITV.com, and see Will Cohen talking about the team’s visual effects work.
